The Turkish Hotel Association needs to be complemented for organizing one of the most important global Hospitality Conferences in Istanbul: the 41st IH-RA Annual Congress. This 3 day conference which was titled ‘Building Business – Building Partnership’ was attended by representatives from all corners of the globe and the ‘SHAKERS and MOVERS’ of our industry. This platform created a unique opportunity for all Turkish Professionals to learn about latest trends and developments. It was therefore surprising and to some extant even disappointing to see how little interest the event had created amongst our Turkish Colleagues.
However it was symptomatic that despite all the various topics which were discussed, there was one which was omnipresent in almost all panel discussions: technology and distribution channels. Here are a few facts as they were presented by Peter Yankelovich:




These facts surely are a hint that the key to successful e-distribution lies in the understanding of
- how the various channels work
- and which of the channels are used by are target markets
For the last 4 years SERVUS has been focusing on telling and showing ways to our clientele on how to best structure the online presence and how to achieve a similar visibility ‘on the net’ as international hotel chains.
The above figures show that - also in our regions - despite the strong presence of traditional booking sources such as travel agencies, a well planned online strategy is key to outperforming the competition and to higher profitability.
